Join us in exploring the mountains, rivers, and creeks around Mt Adams and the Columbia River Gorge in search for minerals that can be used as a pigment in making natural paints. The class will focus on where to look for materials, how to collect them sustainably, and how to process them for use as a pigment in making various types of paints. During our time in the landscape, we will also reflect on the types of materials available in the Northwest, many of which have traditionally been used by local Indigenous tribes, and how they can also be used by artists today. This workshop will meet at our White Salmon Studio, and caravan to collection sites across The Gorge.
